RG&E Begins Installing Smart Meters

Be on the lookout for a new meter. Across Rochester, RG&E technicians are now installing smart meters, designed to improve customer service, following a wave of heated complaints over billing and other issues.
Angie Capps, the manager of meter services at RG&E, stated: “The smart meters are going to allow us to see the meters, the voltage, and usage in real-time, through our network. They communicate with each other through a mesh network system, and we are able to see, in 15-minute increments, everything that is going on.”
