New York Eases Quarantine Rules for Essential Workers

Written by on December 27, 2021

In the rise of the omicron variant, New York Governor Kathy Hochul is easing up on the quarantine rules for essential workers. According to Governor Hochul, most of the state’s essential workers can return to work just five days after a positive coronavirus test. Workers will only be able to do this if they’re fully vaccinated and meet other safety standards. This rule has shortened the quarantine by five days, as it was previously ten.

Governor Hochul stated: “Positive cases don’t mean you’re too sick [to work] and require hospitalization. We want to make sure our critical workforce … can get back…Our hearts go out to their family members just on the verge of this beautiful holiday. To know there’s going to be an empty seat at the table has to be incredibly painful.”
