New Illinois Law Let Public School Students Take Up To 5 Mental Health Days Off

Illinois governor Signed the bill earlier this summer allowing children to have 5 excused absence from school For mental health.
The law applies to all public school students between the ages of 6 and 17 years old.
The bill states that students are under increasing amount of mental strain due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Last year the CDC published a study showing the increase of Mental health related emergency visits to hospitals among young children.
The bill also says students that take more than 2 of the approved mental health days should be referred to the school support services.
