Family, Coworkers Honor Man Killed During Attempt to Stop Altercation

A Rochester man is being remembered as a hero after police say he was fatally stabbed while trying to help a woman during an altercation outside The Mafia Hub on St. Paul Street.
Officers responded to the scene around 3:30 a.m. and found 33-year-old Kameron Nelson suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
Police allege that 23-year-old Alexavier Colon stabbed Nelson after an argument with his girlfriend escalated outside the bar. Nelson, who worked as a cook at the establishment, reportedly intervened to help the woman.
Colon has been charged with second-degree murder and pleaded not guilty. A GoFundMe has been established to support Nelson’s family as the community mourns his loss.
