Whole Foods Gets A Class Action Lawsuit For Sending Workers Wearing Black Lives Matter Face-Coverings Home

National grocery store chain Whole Foods is facing a class action discrimination lawsuit from employees who were disciplined for wearing Black Lives Matter face-coverings during their shifts.
The stores being sued were in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and two other states. According to the suit, employees caught wearing the masks were sent home and denied pay during the month of June.
Management is being accused of harassing and intimidation, threatening to fire the employees in some instances. The company says that no one was actually terminated.
Whole Foods released a statement, saying:
“While we cannot comment on pending litigation, it is critical to clarify that no Team Members have been terminated for wearing Black Lives Matter face masks or apparel.”
Attorney Shannon Liss-Riordan spoke on behalf of the plaintiffs:
“The actions of Whole Foods against its employees are not only illegal but shameful. These essential workers have been asked to put their health at risk during this pandemic, and they have done so. Whole Foods’ decision to selectively and arbitrarily enforce it’s ‘dress code’ to specifically suppress the message that Black Lives Matter paints a picture about what the company values, and that picture is not pretty.”
This is an ongoing story.
