What’s Reopening in Phase 4? Not Malls…
Written by Jazzy T on June 25, 2020
Malls, gyms, movie theaters and lazer tag are all shut out of Friday’s reopening plan in New York State.
LaserTron announced earlier this week that their play palace would reopen on Friday June 26th, but that date has just been postponed.
“We apologize for any inconvenience. Phase 4 of NY Forward currently does not include facilities like LaserTron. We will keep you posted on expected reopening once updated guidelines are released” the email from LASERTRON Henrietta stated.
Local Malls faced the same disappointment in Phase 2 when the retail industry started reopening, but Gov. Cuomo limited customers to shops with external entrances. There is no update on when malls will reopen.
Gyms are also left off the approved list of Phase 4 industries, however with larger groups permitted to gather outside, many fitness activities are moving outdoors.
Zoos, museums and aquariums are among the entertainment venues that have been approved for Phase 4.
Before you head out for a visit, make a reservation online, check for membership requirements and don’t forget your masks.
Officials at the Seneca Park Zoo say animals like lions and red pandas could catch Covid19 from humans.
Religious gatherings of up to 50 people will be allowed starting Friday. Religious institutions will be allowed to increase their capacity from 25% to 33%.
Example: If your church holds 1,000 people normally, you could seat 330 people at this Sunday’s service.
25% capacity = 250 people in Phase 2
33% = 330 people in Phase 3
Upstate New York has done an excellent job at keeping infection rates down. Let’s continue to be a model for smart reopening in America. Please be safe and follow guidelines so that we can return to some sort of normalcy in 2021.
Thank you,
