Water Main Break Opens Large Sinkholes in Penfield

A water main break late Sunday night caused two large sinkholes to open near a condominium community on Penn Lane, forcing some residents to evacuate.

A car tipped into one of the sinkholes, while officials shut off water and deemed several condos uninhabitable. The Red Cross is helping displaced residents with temporary housing.

Forrest Hill, which owns the road, will be responsible for repairs. The cause of the sinkholes remains under investigation.
