Watch Killer Mike Perform A Gospel-Inflected Version Of “Exit 9” On Colbert

Killer Mike appeared on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on Monday, performing a gospel-inflected version of “Exit 9” from his latest solo album, “MICHAEL.” This appearance comes after an eventful week for the rapper, who won three rap Grammys and experienced a brief detainment by police under unclear circumstances. “MICHAEL” marks Killer Mike’s first solo project since the inception of his collaboration with Run The Jewels. For his Colbert performance, Killer Mike, accompanied by the gospel group the Midnight Revival, opted for a subdued delivery, dedicating the song to his grandmother and performing seated, akin to an acoustic singer-songwriter. This rendition of “Exit 9,” which originally features R&B artist Blxst, showcased Killer Mike’s authoritative stage presence in a new light. The album “MICHAEL” is currently available through Loma Vista.
