Health Beats Relationship Styles are Changing Valentines Day Blog

Written by on February 13, 2024

Hello Family, this is Nurse Bowick.

Valentines’ day is upon us, so what is the 411 on love? OMG if you are under the
age of 40, you may not know, that before Siri & Alexa 411 was the phone
number we use to call for information. BTW, it still works. Let us talk about love.

Research suggests that many Americans are falling out of love
with monogamy. Monogamy is a relationship with only one, let me repeat,
one partner at a time, you and one other person. That is it, and that is all.

Monogamy may steadily become a thing of the past. Did you know that roughly
one in eight (12%) US adults say that they have engaged in sexual activity with
someone else, with the consent of their main romantic partner. But slightly
more (18%) say that they have had a sexual encounter with someone else,
without their partner’s consent.

Men (23%) are far more likely than women (13%) to say they have had sex with
someone else, without the consent of their main romantic partner.

Many times, in relationships folks go along to get along. You may agree to be in
a polyamorous relationship (more than one partner). Understand this, your
mouth may have said yes, your blood pressure, may have said NO! There are
mental and physical health implications to agreeing to partake in a relationship
style, and or sex acts that do not align with your moral compass. It is much
healthier to move along, than to get along.

Happy Valentines Day from the station that cares about the community 103.9
