Washington Redskins Review Team Name

On Friday, Head Coach Ron Rivera of the Washington Redskins announced that officials on the team were considering a name change, something that has been a subject of controversy for some time now.
In a statement to the media, the team said:
“In light of recent events around our country and feedback from our community, the Washington Redskins are announcing the team will undergo a thorough review of the team’s name. This review formalizes the initial discussions the team has been having with the league in recent weeks.”
Coach Rivera followed up saying:
“This issue is of personal importance to me and I look forward to working closely with (owner) Dan Snyder to make sure we continue the mission of honoring and supporting Native Americans and our Military.”
FedEx, the main sponsor of the stadium that the Redskins call home, has gone on record asking the team to change its name.
