On Friday, the Monroe County Grand Jury ruled on the fatal shooting of Tyshon Jones by the police officer, Matthew Drake. The jury ruled Drake was justified in the shooting back in March.
Due to the ruling Friday, Drake will not be facing any criminal charges. However, Saturday, the Jones family attorney responded to the ruling.
The attorney stated:
“The grand jury’s failure to indict Officer Drake on criminal charges is not the end of this tragic case. In fact, it is only the beginning. We are conducting an independent investigation into the circumstances of Mr. Jones’ death and are requesting the unsealing of the grand jury proceedings.”
