Seneca Park Zoo: Now Accepting Crypto Donations
Written by Site Hub on February 15, 2022
Yesterday, Rochester’s Seneca Park Zoo received a “philanthropic gift” from JPEG DAO that will be used to “address deforestation in Madagascar,” a cause the organization says they’ve been working on for decades. However, this donation was quite different from the rest, as the original donation was given to the zoo in the cryptocurrency called “Stellar Lumens (XLM),” to the order of $5,000.
The Seneca Park Zoo stated that this donation will help “(create) a new nursery in the North Central region of Madagascar, which has seen rapid deforestation since colonial times, with 90% of land currently without forests. The nursery is projected to grow, and eventually plant, local, community-supported forests that provide vital ecosystem services and provide the opportunity for One Health approach to conservation and sustainable development.”
