Rochester Red Wings Win AAA National Championship

The Rochester Red Wings (2-1) punched their ticket to the Triple-A National Championship Game after eliminating the Memphis Redbirds (1-2) with a 3-2 victory. Trailing 2-1 in the eighth inning, CF Andrew Pinckney ripped an RBI double to tie the game at two and scored the go-ahead run to clinch the series. Eight Red Wing pitchers combined for 11 strikeouts and just three hits allowed on the night, with RHP Clayton Beeter earning the victory.

The Rochester Red Wings Player of the Game is CF Andrew Pinckney. The Tuscaloosa, AL native knocked the latter of back-to-back doubles in the eighth inning to tie the game, and then scored the game-winning run on the next at-bat. The Red Wings will face the winner of Oklahoma City and Las Vegas in the winner-take-all, Triple-A National Championship Game on Saturday at 10:05 p.m. in Las Vegas. It will be Rochester’s 22nd championship appearance, as they set their sights on an 11th title in franchise history and the first since 1997.
