The pandemic has really shown how much not having access to digital technology can impact a student’s ability to learn properly during a crisis.
Rochester Gas & Electric saw an opportunity to improve the learning potential of students at Nativity Preparatory Academy by donating around $2500 to the Shore Foundation – enabling them to donate around 50 refurbished laptops to the students who needed them most.
James Smith, the President at Nativity Preparatory Academy in Rochester, gave a statement regarding the generosity and how it helped:
Think about it from this perspective – it’s been almost a year with the pandemic and some of the challenges facing our community, and Nativity is right here in Rochester serving some dynamic families working through challenges economically, socially – you name it – and these devices, almost two devices per family not only allows our students, who now have a device at home with the device they will now have at school for one-to-one but the families themselves have the device.”
