Pilot Program For Guaranteed Basic Income To Launch This Spring

Rochester, New York is another step closer to launching the Guaranteed Basic Income program for about 350 low income families. Under the GBI pilot program selected families living at or below 200% of the federal poverty line will receive months payments of $500.
The program is to launch this spring. The details of the pilot program are still being finalized with the non-profit organization the Black Community Focus Fund. The organization is working closely with the City of Rochester to develop the GBI program.
The GBI pilot program was proposed by former Mayor Lovely Warren back in 2021.
