Pharmacies help Rochester residents and others across the state

Local pharmacies have joined many others across the state to offer a new medication delivery service to the public to slow the spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus. The service is completely free and available to any New York resident as long as they don’t need a medication that requires refrigeration or special handling or qualifies as a controlled substance.
Participating pharmacies include CVS Pharmacy, Duane Reade, Inc/Walgreens, Genoa Healthcare, Hannaford Bros Company, Kinney Drugs, Inc., Noble Health Services, Price Chopper Supermarkets/Market 32, Rite Aid Corporation, Stop & Shop, Tops Markets, Town Total Health, Walmart, Wegmans Food Markets, and Weis Markets.
New York residents can order prescription and non-prescription medication for delivery by a courier, in-person service or a USPS, FedEx, UPS or other carrier mailing/shipping service.
The President of the Community Pharmacy Association of New York State, Mike Duteau RPh, stated that the association and pharmacy members were “pleased to assist.” Governor Cuomo had asked for their help on Saturday, March 28, during his daily press conference: “I understand it’s a hardship on the pharmacies to provide home delivery. I’m asking them to do it free of charge, but it will make a very big difference.”
