NFL: Geno Smith Gets A 2 Year $75 million Extension With The Las Vegas Raiders

Written by on April 4, 2025

The Las Vegas Raiders fully committed to Geno Smith, signing him to a two-year extension worth $75 million, with $66.5 million guaranteed. Head coach Pete Carroll said an extension was in the works, and it appears it was much closer to the finish line than anyone realized. The West Virginia product had one year left on his current deal, and the Raiders—who have dealt with a question mark at the quarterback position—wanted stability for the next few seasons without that uncertainty looming every offseason. In 2024, Smith broke the Seattle Seahawks’ records for both passing yards (4,320) and completion rate (70.4%). Smith will become the fifth player to set a franchise record for passing yards and then start for a new team the following season since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger. Carroll, who worked with Smith in Seattle before being fired a few seasons ago, now shifts focus to the defensive side while securing a proven option at the most important position.
