National Police Week, established by President Kennedy in 1962, recognizes law enforcement officers, particularly those who have died in the line of duty.
This year, 345 names are being added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C., including 70 from New York. The memorial now honors over 24,000 fallen officers.
