Monroe County Board of Elections Marks National Voter Registration Day with Countywide Proclamation
The Monroe County Board of Elections will host a press conference on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the Atrium at 39 West Main Street to recognize National Voter Registration Day (NVRD).
National Voter Registration Day, established in 2012, is a nationwide, nonpartisan effort to ensure every eligible voter is #VoteReady.Since its creation, more than 5 million citizens have registered to vote through the initiative, including 1.5 million in 2020 alone.
This marks the fourth year of Monroe County Board of Elections participation. The Board has expanded its outreach through the Youth LEAP Program, preregistering high school students and hiring them as Election Inspectors, and by partnering with universities, community organizations, and businesses to meet residents where they live, work, and play. The Monroe County Board of Elections also registers New Americans monthly, ensuring newly naturalized citizens are welcomed into civic life.
“Elections happen every year and directly affect the daily lives of Monroe County residents,” said the Commissioners. “By observing National Voter Registration Day, we ensure that our community has the necessary information to participate in elections.”
