Mike Pence’s Chief of Staff Tests Positive For Coronavirus

On Saturday evening, The White House announced that Marc Short, Vice President Mike Pence’s Chief of staff had tested positive for COVID-19.

Shortly after, Pence’s office confirmed that a senior political adviser to Pence, Marty Obst also tested positive. This makes 5 close associates of the vice president who have come down with the illness.

Mike and Karen Pence have tested negative as of Saturday. Pence has said that he will not quarantine even though he has been in close contact with several of the aides who tested positive.

Devin O’Malley, a spokesperson for Pence said:

“While Vice President Pence is considered a close contact with Mr. Short, in consultation with the White House Medical Unit, the Vice President will maintain his schedule in accordance with the CDC guidelines for essential personnel.”
