Around 11 p.m. this past Wednesday, a home in East Bloomfield, NY caught fire after it was struck by a car that had exploded on impact.
The driver of the car was 35-year-old Ross Thompson of Naples, NY. According to investigators, he lost control of his vehicle and flew off the road, rolling several times before crashing into the home.
Ross was pulled out of the vehicle by passersby and airlifted to the hospital. He has since been released with minor injuries. Thompson’s passenger walked away from the crash with little to no injuries.
Two adults and a child were inside the home when the crash sent flames upwards of 100 feet in the air. Although the blast destroyed their home, the family luckily escaped unharmed.
Thompson currently has pending charges against him.
