Lawmakers Will Pass Bill Monday To Extend Eviction Ban In New York State

There may be some good news for people in New York that are facing eviction. New York State lawmakers are going to hold a special meeting on Monday to address rent and eviction situations.
The special session is to pass a bill that will extend the ban on evictions. The current bill will expire on January 1, 2021.
Governor Andrew Cuomo said there would be an extension on the current moratorium however lawmakers want to broaden the protections.
The new bill would extend the ban on residential evictions until May 1, 2021. It will also create a new Standardized Hardship Declaration Form. Tenants will be able to submit this form to their landlord to stop the eviction.
