We have been waiting five years for songstress Jazmine Sullivan to drop a new album, following 2015’s “Reality Show” LP.
Her latest offering “Heaux Tales” was recorded during the 2020 lockdown at her home studio in Philly. She captures the struggle of a single girl dating in the age of social media and social distancing throughout the album. With everyone competing for likes and opting for text messages over phone conversations.
Track #14 “Girl Like Me” featuring H.E.R. bluntly states “I knew it was real when you blocked me” and “You’re gonna make a ho outta me”.
Whew – that’s as real as it gets!
Track #3 “Pick up Your Feelings” shows Jazmine in a position of power when she tells her Ex “I have no room for extra baggage, Now I’m Saving Me”! Yasss Jaz!
My boy Key Wane from Detroit has a few producer credits on Heaux Tales, including the song “Put it Down”, which highlights the situation a girl finds herself in when she gives everything to a man who gives her “the D”.
