Is Sharing Really Caring?

I came across this social media post from a mom who took her son to the park.

In the post, the mom explains how her son brought a few toys with him and the other little boys playing at the park wanted to play with his toys as well. The mom told her son it was okay to say no to the other boys if he didn’t want to share his toys.

Parents of the other children gave her dirty looks, feeling she was wrong for teaching her son that it was okay to not share.

Sometimes I feel like we do not teach our kids balance. This is a perfect example, you don’t have to always share your things. Would it be nice if you did? Yes. But I also think it’s important to teach kids that it’s also okay to say no sometimes.
