Yesterday, in preparation for the incoming storm, Governor Kathy Hochul spoke to urge New Yorkers to prepare for heavy snow, ice, and wind expected. According to the current report, New Yorkers could see three inches of snow pile up per hour with at least 18 inches accumulating in Western New York, the Finger Lakes, and the North Country. In addition to the snow pile-up, wind gusts could reach as high as 45 miles per hour which could contribute to possible power outages.
Governor Hochul stated: “New York is poised to experience one of the largest storms so far this winter and our crews are out in full force preparing our roadways and staging critical assets. With freezing temperatures persisting and heavy snowfall forecasted, I’m urging all New Yorkers to pay close attention to their local forecasts and avoid unnecessary travel throughout the duration of the storm.”
