California Governor Signs Executive Order To Ban All Gas Vehicles By 2035

The state of California will be phasing out all gas-powered vehicles by 2035. The reason for this new bill is to encourage people who I’ve in California to buy electric vehicles. California also wants to lead the country in the reduction of greenhouse emissions.
The new executive order signed by Governor Gavin Newsom will not allow the sale of new gas vehicles but it will allow gas cars already owned. It will also allow used gas cars or trucks to be sold on the used-car market. Currently, this clean car executive order is the only one of its kind in the United States.
“This is the most impactful step our state can take to fight climate change,” Gov. Newsom said in a statement via NPR.org.
The California-based Coalition for Clean Air said it will commit to helping implement the new policy.
However, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency chief said the new policy raises significant questions of legality. EPA Chief Andrew Wheeler sent a letter to Gov. Newsom ridiculing his order. In the letter, he said, “begs the question of how you expect to run an electric car fleet that will come with significant increases in electricity demand when you can’t even keep the lights on today.”
I will say the plan is pretty radical BUT it is a plan. With all of the wildfires of recent, I believe we can all agree that something has to be done.
There is a saying “Better to have done something than do nothing at all.” – Not sure who said this
