Buffalo Bills DT Ed Oliver Has DWI And Weapons Charges Dropped

Written by on July 23, 2020

Bills Defensive Tackle Ed Oliver had his case dismissed due to a lack of evidence. In May, Oliver was charged with Driving while Intoxicated and possession of an illegal gun in Houston. The pistol was actually legally registered, but having possession of a firearm while committing an offense is also a crime. Now since there is not enough evidence to prosecute Oliver on the DWI charge, the additional weapons charge has also been dropped.

Since Oliver’s case was dismissed he will likely not receive any disciplinary action from the NFL, meaning no suspensions or fines are expected.  The Bills organization issued a statement saying in part, “We are pleased with the ruling today. We supported and worked with Ed throughout the offseason… with his name cleared of all charges, he can now turn his full attention on the upcoming training camp and season.” Training camp is set to begin in Buffalo next week.
