Bill To Decriminalize Consensual Sex Work In NY State Is Back On The Table

Do you think sex workers should not be criminalized for consensual sex work in New York State?

Advocates and some legislators in New York State are calling on lawmakers to to decriminalize sex work. They say it makes the business of sex work a dangerous environment.

The bill is called the Stop The Violence In Sex Trades Act is now in the state general assembly for the third time. If passed the bill would allow more rights for sex workers by decriminalizing consensual sex work. It would also clear prior criminal convictions related to sex work and keep trafficking and underage laws in place.

As of now consensual sex work in New York State can result in charges, jail time, and fines.
