Biggest Trial For 4 Day Work Week In The World Underway

Written by on June 7, 2022

The largest trial for a four-day work week is underway in the UK. The pilot program will last six months and the works who agreed to this program will have no change in their pay. This program allows workers to receive 100% of their pay with an agreement to give 100% productivity but only working 80% of their normal week.

The pandemic has made more companies consider changes as employees want a better quality of life. More countries joining in on the trials and backed by their government are Spain and Scotland. Iceland has done two large trials similar between 2015 to 2019 and found no drop in productivity. The trials in Iceland did find a significant increase in employee well-being.

My question at this point is will America consider the model of a four-day work week an option?

The pilot program in the UK will measure how the four-day work week will affect productivity, gender equality, and worker well-being. It will also track how the pattern will be on the environment.

What are your thoughts on this four-day work week model? What do you feel employers could do to improve an employees well-being and productivity?
