Assistant District Attorney Resigns From Position Over Instagram Post

Written by on July 2, 2020

Assistant District Attorney Dan Strollo resigned Tuesday from the Monroe County District Attorney’s office. He resigned because of what he posted on Instagram. The screenshot of the post was sent to WDKX on Tuesday as well.

Strollo posted a racially insensitive meme that referenced George Floyd’s funeral from his personal IG page. The post was in his stories. Why he would post it working with the Monroe County DA’s office is concerning. When you have a person in a position of power such as this with a certain mindset or views this is what systemic racism looks like. He was a senior assistant district attorney and was with the DA’s office for five years according to 13WHAM.com.

According to multiple media outlets that have reached out to him for a comment he declined.

“The Monroe County District Attorney’s Office was made aware of the social media post by an employee,” officials with the Monroe County DA’s office said in a statement Tuesday. “Mr. Strollo has resigned from his position at the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office.”

Here is the screenshot of Dan Strollo’s post.
