Irondequoit Considers Crackdown on Short-Term Rentals

The Irondequoit Town Board is considering changes to its short-term rental rules. A proposed amendment would ban rentals shorter than 29 days or require at least a 7-day minimum stay.

Supporters believe it would help new homebuyers and protect neighborhood stability.

Opponents say it’s too strict and are pushing for exceptions, especially for owner-occupied units. The rule would apply to houses, condos, and apartments—hotels and motels would be exempt.

The board postponed making a final decision.
