With vaccine demand decreasing, health leaders are looking at new, creative ways to get the vaccine to the community.
In the beginning of this year, there was a massive shortage of the vaccine, but now there is a surplus.
Nancy Bennett Lead for the Finger Lakes COVID-19 Vaccine HUB stated:
“We’ve realized that the demand has dropped off dramatically over the course of last month or so, and so we are now focusing our efforts at brining vaccine to the people.”
Right now, 60% of the community has at least one dose, but the numbers are low in the 35 year old and younger age groups.
Dr. Laurie Dononhue, MD chief medical officer Jordan health stated:
“I think there’s some thinking that even if they got covid they wouldn’t get that sick so why should they get vaccinated if they get vaccinated will they miss a day at work and they don’t want to do that.”
