An Elderly Sikh Man Visiting New York was Allegedly Attacked and the Attack is being Investigated as a Hate Crime

The 70 year-old Nirmal Singh, was in New York for 2 weeks before he was attacked. Singh was punched in the nose while he was walking back to his residency.
Singh is a Sikh man from Punjab, India and is staying at the Sikh Cultural Society.
The Police say the attack Monday was unprovoked.
CNN reports:
“‘It was horrific and heartbreaking to see an elderly man in such bad shape,’ Gurinder Singh, a Richmond Hill resident who saw the victim sitting outside the cultural center minutes after the attack told CNN. ‘People come to America to get a better life, but then something like this happens.'”
