SNAP Benefit Reimbursement Program Aims To Help Offset Last Months Reductions

SNAP benefit recipients across New York State will be getting more bang for their SNAP benefit bucks.
A new change announced by the Governors office Wednesday will allow an increase in reimbursement for healthy purchases made at certain farmers markets.
The program is called the FreshConnect Fresh2You. It will give $2 checks for every $2 spent on Fair, meat, fish, produce, and other healthy food items. The program previously gave $2 for every $5 spent at approved farmers markets.
For the city of Rochester residents the Rochester Public Market is a participant in the program. If you wish to use your SNAP benefits you can go tot the Market Token Center behind the Main Office to receive your tokens.
The program is a way to help offset the SNAP emergency allotment program that ended last month.
