A Giraffe At Seneca Park Zoo Was Found Unresponsive Sunday

One of the giraffe’s at Seneca Park Zoo died over the weekend. Parker, the six year old giraffe died after getting caught in the support structure for the enclosure’s gate.
Seneca Park Zoo officials announced Monday that Parkers’ death was “unforeseen and unprecedented” and that it has not happened before. They said the gate closures are standard for giraffes and used in accredited zoo’s across the country. There have been no reports on similar incidents.
Parker was a six year old Masai giraffe. He was found unresponsive in the Animals Of The Savanna building. Parker arrived at Seneca Park Zoo in 2018 and was paired with two female giraffes. He has a son that was born in 2022 named Olmsted.
