New York Gas Tax Pause Begins

Written by on June 2, 2022

As of June 1st, the pause on gas taxes has officially begun in New York, and many are starting to notice the slight difference. Several counties, including Monroe, followed the state’s lead in capping their local sales tax, and it could save drivers roughly 24 cents a gallon.

Mark Walton, who has owned Bowen’s Sunoco for 12 years, stated: “It’s nice that the state is helping, but it’s not doing anything. It’s not going to change. It already didn’t do anything overnight…The price is supposed to go down 24 cents, but oil, it’s going up so fast that the 24 cents is going to be eaten up with no problem.”
