Written by on August 18, 2021

Current and soon-to-be-former Governor Andrew Cuomo has officially filed for retirement, confirmed by the New York State Comptroller’s Office. As the law stands right now, Cuomo will be eligible to receive a state pension. His retirement will go into effect on September 1st.

According to the New York State Comptroller’s Office, as of July 31st, Andrew Cuomo has a little over 14 and a half years of service credit. This service credit could translate to about $50,000 dollars a year. It is unclear right now, but some state lawmakers are trying to enact legislation that would strip the pension of anyone who is convicted of impeachment charges.
