The Weeknd has canceled his Rose Bowl concert and delayed the release of his sixth studio album, Hurry Up Tomorrow, in response to the devastating wildfires affecting Los Angeles and Ventura counties. The natural disaster, fueled by Santa Ana winds, has burned over 40,000 acres, destroyed 12,000 structures, and caused 24 fatalities since it began on January 7.
Originally scheduled for January 19, the Rose Bowl concert will no longer take place. The album’s release date has been postponed from January 24 to January 31. In a statement shared on social media, The Weeknd expressed solidarity with the affected residents, citing Los Angeles as a profound source of inspiration and pledging support for recovery efforts.
Hurry Up Tomorrow will be followed by a psychological thriller film of the same name, starring The Weeknd, Jenna Ortega, and Barry Keoghan, set for theatrical release on May 16, 2025. The artist’s decision highlights his commitment to aiding the community during this difficult time.
