Greenlight Networks internet service fee set to rise in NY

Written by on April 1, 2024

Greenlight Networks, an internet service provider based in Henrietta, New York, has announced a price increase for its basic high-speed internet service. Since its inception in 2011, the company has maintained a flat rate of $50 per month. However, starting with the April billing cycle, the cost for the 500 megabits-per-second plan will rise to $55. This adjustment is attributed to changes in regulations, minimum wage increases, and the rising costs associated with building and supporting their network. Despite the increase in the basic plan, prices for the 1- and 2-gigabit speed tiers will remain unchanged at $75 and $100 per month, respectively. Additionally, Greenlight is enhancing its fastest plan to 8 gigabits per second and reducing its price from $200 to $150 per month. The company, serving over 170,000 homes across 27 municipalities in areas including Rochester, Buffalo, Binghamton, and Albany, was acquired in June 2022 by Oak Hill Capital, planning a significant expansion.
