3 Rochester Area Stores Expanding Nutritious Food Program

Written by on August 1, 2024

Tops and Field & Fork Network are making the Double Up Food Bucks program available at three Rochester-area stores. The program provides reduced prices on fresh fruits and vegetables for customers who receive SNAP benefits. Frozen produce items will also be included in the program for a limited time. Customers who use their EBT card to purchase eligible items will have their purchased matched dollar for dollar, up to $5. They will receive a coupon at checkout to be used for a future visit. “We talk about the rate of inflation, we talk about the increased cost of living, and we don’t think about that as it relates to the increases in SNAP benefits,” Assembylmember Demond Meeks said. “We have to really think out of the box and come up with different ways to advocate and make things happen on behalf of this community.” The Tops stores on Upper Falls Boulevard and West Avenue in Rochester are now part of the program, along with the location on East Ridge Road in Irondequoit. The program launched last year at Tops stores on Jefferson Avenue in Buffalo and Portage Road in Niagara Falls.
