A man in Connecticut is stunned after seeing his 9 year old son in his surveillance camera, hiding from a police truck passing by while he was playing basketball.
The dad, Stacey Pierre-Louis, says he couldn’t believe what he saw because he has presented only positive experiences with the police officers in his community to his son. After witnessing the video, he questioned his son about his actions. Apparently, he’s had anxiety over the incident with, and possibly the many events surrounding, the death of George Floyd. According to CNN, Pierre-Louis later posted on his own social media asking, “Why does he feel like he has to hide when he wasn’t doing anything wrong?”
Social media and television has a certain impact on our children many of us sometimes fail to realize. Hopefully, times like these provide the open opportunity to have these hard and necessary conversations with them.
