How do you ask a guest to leave your home without saying get out?
We’ve all had company over that overstayed their welcome, and sometimes we don’t want to be rude and tell them to go home. What do you say to them without feeling hurt?
My cue or hint to them is what are you about to do for the rest of the day or I have to run out and take care of something.
If it’s later in the evening, getting ready for work always wins.
Here are some things experts say you could use.
Mention that it’s getting late and “wrap-up” the hangout.
Have a distinction between your main meal and dessert to make your guest know the time is close to ending.
Empathetically yawn to make it look like you’re tired.
Suggest you move to a different location to leave your home.

Talk about your plans for next time.
Tell them you need to get up early for something (ex. walk the dog)
