A babysitter in Kansas got an unexpected surprise when one of the children in her care complained about a “monster” under their bed. When the sitter checked to reassure the kid, she discovered a 27-year-old man lying there! On Wednesday (March 26), the Barton County Sheriff’s Office confirmed they have the suspect, Martin Villalobos Jr., in custody on several charges.

Here’s What Happened After Babysitter Found Man

According to a social media post from the sheriff’s office, the incident occurred on Monday (March 24). Deputies were sent to a home on Patton Road at around 10:30 p.m. local time. The babysitter explained what happened, saying she was putting the children to bed when one of them insisted on a “monster” under their bed.

“When the victim attempted to show the child there was nothing under the bed, she came face-to-face with a male suspect who was hiding there. An altercation ensued with the babysitter, and one child was knocked over in the struggle,” the Barton County Sheriff’s Office revealed.

By the time cops pulled up, Martin Villalobos Jr. had fled the scene, and efforts to locate him that night failed. He was finally arrested the following morning, on March 25, after being spotted near Patton Road. He attempted to run again, but police eventually caught up to him on the foot chase. After his arrest, officials transported Martin to Barton County Jail and locked him up.

According to the Barton County Sheriff’s Office, the 27-year-old used to live in the home he was found hiding in. However, records indicate that there is an abuse protection order against him. He is forbidden from being on the property. Additional details about the protection order are unclear.

It’s also unclear if the babysitter plans to press charges or how the parents reacted after the incident. Martin Villalobos Jr. is being held with a $500,000 bond. He is charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary, aggravated battery, child endangerment, felony obstruction of a law enforcement officer, and violation of a protection from abuse order.
