A fatal crash occurred early Thursday morning at the intersection of Holt and Ridge roads in Webster, New York, when a car collided with a utility pole and caught fire. The driver, who has not been identified, was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital but did not survive. The vehicle struck the pole around 5 a.m., igniting flames that engulfed the car. The crash damaged electrical lines running beneath the roadway, leading to a complex recovery and repair process. According to Sgt. Skyler Miller of the Webster Police Department, the intersection is expected to be closed for several days while crews work to replace the utility pole and rerun the electrical mains. The New York State Department of Transportation is overseeing the operation, and efforts are being made to reopen the road as soon as possible.
