Wayne Middle School Goes Remote After Fire Damage
Written by Site Hub on November 19, 2024
Wayne Middle School transitioned to remote learning after a weekend fire caused significant damage to the building. The fire, reported by a custodian around 9:30 p.m., was contained to one classroom on the second floor, according to the Ontario Fire Company. Although initial plans set November 20 as the reopening date, cleanup and restoration efforts have delayed the return.
From November 20 to November 22, students in grades 5 through 8 will participate in remote learning, while staff will report to designated district locations to finalize plans and ensure engaging instruction. Specialized emergency teams are working to clean, repair, and restore the school. The district is committed to resuming in-person learning once the building is safe and fully functional.
