Wally “Famous” Amos, the creator of the Famous Amos chocolate chip cookies and “Father of the Gourmet Cookie”, passed away at 88 due to dementia. After serving in the U.S. Air Force and working as a talent agent representing stars like Simon & Garfunkel, Amos turned his passion for baking into a business. In 1975, he opened the first Famous Amos cookie store in Los Angeles, which quickly gained popularity for its high-quality, bite-sized cookies.
