Utah Monolith Disappearance Allegedly Caused By Environmental Activists

The recent disappearance of the Utah Monolith without any explanation had people scratching their heads, searching for answers. Was it park rangers? Did aliens come back and retrieve it? Was it taken down by the artist that created it?

According to outdoor lifestyle photographer Ross Bernards, it was allegedly taken down by a group of 4 TikTokers.

Bernards is an outdoor lifestyle photographer who went out to find and photograph the monolith with some friends after finding out where it was. They arrived and spent about an hour there taking pictures before a second group showed up.

“They immediately started really pushing on it, like throwing their whole-body weight into it,” said Bernards. “It took them maybe three big pushes to get that thing to pop up a little bit and start turning on its side. Once that happened, one of them said this is why you don’t leave trash in the desert.”

They put the structure into a wheelbarrow and took it away, saying “Leave No Trace” as they left.

This quote is a principle of the outdoor community and it encourages people to protect the environment by minimizing their impact.

Sylvan Christensen, who has almost 30 thousand followers on TikTok, posted a video of the monolith strapped to a wheelbarrow and carried away with the faces of the individuals removing the structure blurred.

The post has since been viewed almost 200 thousand times.

“Don’t abandon your personal property on public land if you don’t want it to be taken out,” Christensen wrote in a caption along with a hashtag #LeaveNoTrace.
