The University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) and Golisano Children’s Hospital celebrated the grand opening of their new interventional radiology suite for children on Thursday, December 12, 2024. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to replace traditional surgeries with minimally invasive procedures, utilizing advanced imaging technologies such as CAT scans and X-rays. These methods aim to reduce potential complications and speed up recovery times for pediatric patients.

Previously, children requiring these procedures had to visit an adult facility at Strong Memorial Hospital. The new suite provides a child-centered environment, enhancing comfort and care.

During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, donor Matt Davitt expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts that made this advancement possible, calling it “a manifestation of good people making good things happen.” The interventional radiology suite represents a significant step forward in providing specialized, minimally invasive healthcare for children in the Rochester area.
