The Urban-Suburban Program, the oldest voluntary desegregation initiative in the U.S., celebrated its 60th anniversary with a gala at the Memorial Art Gallery.
Since its inception in 1965, the program has made a significant impact, currently enrolling 900 “educational residents” from Rochester in 14 suburban districts, including Brighton, Hilton, and Pittsford.
Applications for the program are accepted annually from February to October.
