UR Medicine extending its Nursing Scholars Program
Written by Site Hub on June 26, 2024
The University of Rochester School Medical Center and Rochester School of Nursing have announced a three-year extension of their UR Nursing Scholars Program, now continuing through the summer of 2027. This initiative offers a tuition-free education in the Accelerated Bachelor’s in Nursing program. Due to the extension, an additional 300 scholarships will be available to students. Participants in the program are required to commit to a three-year term at participating UR Medicine hospitals after they pass their licensure exam. This effort is part of a broader strategy to address the projected shortage of nearly 40,000 registered nurses in New York State by 2030, aiming to bolster the workforce with well-trained nursing professionals.
